I thought these tethers were recalled due to the slip rings. May have been thinking of something else but check with West Marine. I have a mixed relationship with them, hate them but they do stand behind their products and some stores are very good. My local store happens to have old sailors working there and they can help with almost anything, but other stores are power boater centric and can be downright unpleasant.
