I put one of these on the mast to protect the ML2 steaming/deck light when I
rewired the mast on my 38 11 or 12 years ago. Never had a problem.

I thought that being under the spreaders and between the mast and shrouds was
protection enough for the ML1 spreader lights. Wrong! So I bought two more of
these to install over the spreader lights. No problems since.

Subject: Stus-List Steaming light guard

Has anyone come up with a good design for a guard to protect your steaming
light from damage caused by flailing halyards and headsails in strong winds. I
know Forespar makes one
https://www.forespar.com/products/sail-light-guard.shtml but I am not sure that
that design will do the job as it does not offer a lot of protection at the top
of the light.

Thanks
