This has intrigued me since I inspected the keel boats the very first time on Tapestry. The bonding to the keel boats was made with two insulated copper cables (looks to be 2 or 3 AWG). Poking around I found this interesting presentation case study and product solutions.

Even a tiny hole would sink a boat.
