yes, both nubs squeeze in with some effort.  I used a popsicle stick to
help.   It will of course depend on the thickness of your glazing/acrylic
and the thickness of the gasket material when compressed.   I have heard
(on this list) for years about how d-profile weather strip works well but I
can't imagine that it really does.   What I used was a thin (maybe 1/8 or
3/16")  neoprene double sided sticky foam tape (it was a while ago but I
know I bought it at McMaster) that was probably the 3m-VHB (very high bond)
tape that people talk about.  That stuff makes the spline almost irrelevant
(when I did this 10 years ago I reused the old spline but a few years ago I
decided it was too ugly not to replace so I found the stuff referenced
above).

If you want a small piece of the spline to test send me your address and
I'll put it in an envelope.  Or if you want to buy some of the 80 ft that I
have left from the original 100 ft roll let me know and I'm sure we can
come to an agreement.
