I jut replaced my halyards this last summer and also added a second job
halyard and clutches.

Originally I had just one Jib halyard and the main halyard led back to
either side of the cockpit where there was a single horn cleat and single
halyard winch on each side of the companionway.,
When adding the second jib halyard I also added halyard clutches (Lewmar D1
doubles) on each side so that I ended up with both jib halyards led to one
clutch pair on the Stbd side of the cabin top.
I then led the spin halyard back to the cockpit and paired the main and
spin halyards on the port side of the cabin top to the other new clutch.

Remember he halyard sizes are limited by the sheave size at the mast top
and if you can find the manual you may find the original line size chart.

In my case, my halyards are 3/8". Based on recommendations, I chose to
replace them with New England's VPC double braid for halyards.
I used white/red speck for port halyard, white with green speck for stbd
halyard.
For main halyard, I used white with blue spec.
For Spinnaker I had trouble finding a 4th color from Defender or West
Marine in VPC, so I deviated and used a 38" Black with white spec Sta-set.

For Jib and main sheets I have up sized to 9/16" yacht braid which makes
handling easier.
Mine are red with white spec just because it goes with the overall boat
color scheme.... nothing else special about the sheet colors.
The spin sheets are 3/8' stay set, while with red spec. (reversed from jib
colors). They are not up-sized to keep their weight down for light air use.

Not sure what the British color scheme rationale was but this seems to work
for me.

Jim
