Edd, For the sake of conversation I have the same fridge as you. The only switch in my circuit is the original (coffee pot) rocker switch at the nav station from C&C. Speaking of coffee pots, a Mr Coffee on/off switch looks almost identical and the OEM switches. A coffee pot draws about 10 amps.
When my fridge is running the boat's analog amp meter pulses between 5 and 10 amps. A relay won't hurt but you probably don't need it.
