Thanks John, That's what I was afraid of. Sounds like this is not going to necessarily be an easy fix. Just so I make sure I understand what your saying.
- The stud is believed to be attached directly to the keel. - If that is true, then the shaft of the stud is probably 3+ inches through the hull and into the keel. - Possible fix would be to drill out the hole, tap the new hole and try to thread a new stud in its place. - Re seal the hole with epoxy and filler? If it's directly attached to the keel, would threading a new hole be strong enough? How far down should I drill it out? I don't have exact measurements but the stud itself looks to be almost 1/2" thick. Where can I find something that large? I can only seem to find lifeline studs so far. I also can't seem to find any information on this kind of thing online anywhere. Any suggestions on where to look?
