I seem to recall the C&C 37+ Owner's Manual talks about a 1, 2 or 3 (not 4) battery system. Now, I know why. They apparently never intended to have 2 batteries in that compartment. Of course as our boats added refrigeration, electronics, and all sorts of other do-dads, owners added a 4th battery right over the sea-cock.
