Steve I took mine apart as best I could to see if I could find wear and tear. The one thing I noticed was that the hydraulic fluid was very very low. I emptied what I could. I have the instruction for bleeding the system and did this and then refilled according to the instructions. I put some tension on it left for a few days then topped up again with fluid. I took it to the workshop at the yacht club where we sail and we think we got about 2,500 pounds of pressure on the system and the piston did not move at all over 48 hours. Apparently the hydraulic fluid heats in the black casing and vaporizes which can leak around the seals. You may want to try this first. John on Enterprise

Can anyone recommend a shop in Toronto or SW Ontario who can refurbish my hydraulic backstay adjuster?
