Yeah we're running on shore power.. You'd have to have a pretty substantial generator to keep that puppy humming. Since we're at the lake, no sense in dealing with that we just plug in and enjoy a nice cool and dry evening with a few drinks and a movie on the DVD player.
We do have a wind scoop which is fine when the humidity / heat lets off. It's touch and go for us in the summer, sometimes it's a sauna just like our friends have in Florida, sometimes it's alright but it's typically pretty warm from July through mid August . Right now it does get into the 70's in the early morning hours but it takes a while for all the heat to go away / you might also deal with a fair amount of humidity which is what makes it sticky when you go to bed. With the A/C on board you can stick to your weekend plans no matter how muggy it gets. As far as good sailing: Because of the weather systems coming through (From depressions in the gulf, big continental stuff off the jet stream, and local thunderstorm activity) we actually do get surprisingly good wind mixed in with the hot doldrums weeks. (Winds in the mid to high teens this week) So you do get 85-90 + degree days with good wind.. Bring your sunscreen and crank the A/C at night to cool off :-) P.S. When all y'all northern brethren put your boats away in September / October, that's when the fall racing season really kicks in for us and we enjoy windy / cool sailing until late November / early December. The new year racing season starts Jan 2nd. That's also cool and windy through the next June :-) Francois Rivard 1990 34+ "Take Five" Cumming, GA
