Thanks for all the replies. I doubt this was a wake wave. It was way larger than any I ever encountered, and traveling North-south, stretching all the way across the bay. (The channel runs north-south, so any wake wave would travel east-west. Also, it was only 2 waves very close to each other. Wish I had bought that Go-Pro I always wanted, it was pretty impressive to see.
