Ditto, especially for long offshore. Careful, it will freeze your beer. The box can handle the low temperatures without cracking. If concerned, figure out a way to keep the ice from direct contact with the box.
With regard to carbon dioxide build up; the volume of CO2 would have to fill the icebox and then spill over into the cabin area. With the amount of air moving through boat on any typical day, it's highly likely to flush out a good % of the CO2 .
