I am on a crew for Pacific Cup this year (a J42, not C&C) and wondered about buying and stowing (6) Type 1 Inherently buoyant PFD's.
Nearly everyone on the crew is using a Spinlock Hammar or Pro Sensor, which are ISO certified, and ISAF approved and widely regarded as *superior to nearly everything else, but do not meet USCG requirements. So, the Spinlocks cover the SER (safety equipment requirements) for racing, but would not cover us if boarded the USCG. I am sure other offshore racers have dealt with this same dilemma, but wondered how so. Any recommendations on the most cost and spatially efficient Type1's to buy and stow? Thanks, Kevin C&C 30-2, Osprey Portland, OR *please start another thread if you own an inflatable other than Spinlock and wish to protest it's superiority ;) thx.
