Because by the definition in the ColRegs, a “Masthead” light is white and shows
over an arc of 225 degrees facing the bow of the boat. I know, I call it a
steaming light and that is what the switch on my switch panel says.

The all-around white light that you put on when you are at anchor, are aground,
etc. isn’t called an “Anchor Light” – even though that is what I have marked on
the switch. That is referred to as an All-around white light in the ColRegs.

I need another deck/steaming light like this, but why do they call it a
Masthead light when it is not 360 degrees?
