Sometimes its nothing you did. My theory is that besides changing galvanic properties of underwater metals, like prop, nut, shaft shark, at a worst case boat wiring deteriorates over time. This could result in more stray current. Current not going back to negative of the bank, but instead leaving via prop shaft and your zinc.
