I did ours, and butyl tape worked great. Had to over drill and fill the old holes yes, also found cracks where the liner and deck met, which were a source of leaks, so fixed them with G2 Flex (if I remember correctly) which has a bit of give in it. The new Lewmar’s actually matched the openings better than the Bomar’s I removed!
