Maybe I'm careless but i wouldn't hesitate to go up with those 2 shrouds
missing.  If you wanted minimize the risk do one at a time and go up on the
side opposite of the remaining shroud.

I have always chalked that bend in the rod up to the fact that those
shrouds have to make a more acute interface with the mast because they are
lower and don't have spreaders pushing them out to open up the angle.  I've
thought that the ball was at it's limit, not stuck.  You'll have to let us
know what you find.  That same shroud makes a very unnatural angle at the
chain plate.  There is a toggle to provide articulation but it still seems
like the chain plate should have been designed differently.
