I wanted to report back to the list on a couple of earlier discussions I initiated:
1. I checked the furler/headstay with regard to tension the other day and with no sail on it, the headstay and foil had very little give at all. I suspect that with a genoa deployed and the sag it induces, there will be a lot more play, and that is probably what I was remembering. So I think my concerns over a loose rig were unfounded. 2. I bought a set of Alden ratcheting wrenches to play with and find them to be a relatively inexpensive but quite useful tool. Several times already I have used them in tight quarters to loosen or tighten a bolt/nut. It would not be the tool of choice for a really stuck bolt that needed lots of force, but I have begun grabbing them first for many small jobs. With a rough guess at size, I can carry two wrenches and fit most everything. It feels like the metric/SAE size difference is irrelevant (I have not tested scientifically yet) because of the way the head ratchets, so instead of having to sort through my sockets and box wrenches for the correct size (and my boat seems to be a mix of metric and SAE) I can use these. It grabs better than an adjustable, so I will never use that tool again. As an added bonus, they are stainless steel. Dave Aries 1990 C&C 34+ New London, CT
