Mike,
I don't like the two part teak cleaners cause they raise the grain requiring a
lot of sanding.

I found the best treatment for dirty teak is; Joy dish detergent in warm water
and scrub with bronze wool. (Steel wool leaves metal hairs that will rust and
stain the wood) Start with rough bronze wool and work your way up to fine. when
you are done, the wood will be clean and super smooth. The smooth surface will
not collect future dirt, so the finish will last longer. Before applying oil,
sand lightly with 220.

The worst thing to clean teak?; pressure washer. Same as Teak Cleaner, it wears
down the softer grains and leaves the harder grains proud. It creates nooks and
crannies for future dirt.

Good luck

Mike:

Phosphoric acid, (Part B for the two part teak cleaner kits) is commonly used
used for darkening teak from white back to its brown color, can damage the
pigment in Awlgrip.

Use a teak cleaner with oxalic acid only and you should be O.K. Why not simply
use TSP?

Teak cleaners are generally pretty harsh. Do they damage Awlgrip paint?
