Not saying the C&C 30 will not do well - just that there are only enough
racers with $$$ to support so many of these classes. Also note the Farr 30
seems to be embarrassing the newer Farr down at Key West. The C&C seems to
be rated much faster than it is on the water so far, which won't make for
happy PHRF campers.

The Farr 30 has stuck around a long time and is still going strong. You
never know how these things will play out. One thing is that they have to
make a lot of them if they are to stick - like J70

The new 30 looks just like all the other hot-racer-of-the-month boats. It
may or may not succeed as a racing boat, but I can't see it ever
accomplishing what the original C&Cs did. I can't see them having second and
third and fourth lives being family daysailors, cruisers, live-aboards,
ocean voyagers, beercan racers, etc.

I hope they do well racing. They won't sell enough to non-racers to be
viable.

Curtis, I agree with you. I race on a J-80 (and on my 30-1), and I cannot
imagine that the new 30 will ever be a 'legend'. Our boats are excellent
all-purpose boats - race, cruise, camp, sturdy, etc. The new 30 may have 100
takers in a sea of similar one-design sportboats. We have over 600 of us and
I'll bet most of them are still on the water, 30 years after the last was
built.

My old 30-1 is a legend, Not sure the new 30 will ever be that.

Can't argue with you there. Best I ever saw as 8.2 and that was in a lot

I bet your old Mark 1 doesn't do 12 knots in 15 knots of wind either. It
was a blast to sail in NYC.

Funny. I posted this on the list in Oct 2013 when the first drawings
of the Redline were released.

SR was purchased by C&C from Glen Henderson. A drawing of the first
boat to be produced by the new C&c company was shown at the Newport
Boat show. It's the Redline 41 similar to a King 40 by Summit
yachts. You can see a drawing of it at http://summit-yachts.com/.
The new line is described below

well built, is excused."
Based on the C&C website I was lead to believe this was a new hull.

       I just shipped 3 of these boats (hull nos: 05, 06 & 08) to
USWatercraft's Japanese dealer. All 3 boats were pre sold.
The dealer has 3 more hulls on order for delivery by the
       end of May 2015.

There is also a lot of interest from Australia we well.
