Thanks everybody for the input last week. I did take it apart Sunday and
pins and everything appeared normal. I am suspecting it is a simple case of
worn belt, and perhaps pully? The clutch just didn't have enough tension to
keep it closed. Here is the belt that was on there:

442 synchroflex belt AT 5/750 (9mm wide I believe)

Which are to be replacement for: RAyMARInE Product Number 36014.

I see polybelt.com sells direct replacement as well as other knock offs for
our of production raymarine part. Shall I favor one over another? Shall I
replace the pully as well?  I don't want to invest too heavily in
antiquated technology where unnecessary...
