There is an older Nicro vent on the fore hatch of our boat......works
fine.....has a rechargeable battery which I have changed once in 9
seasons. It runs 12 months of the year even when the boat is on the
hard in the winter.
Rarely does it leak....maybe a few drops of water in a big wind and rain
storm but no big deal. Given its location on the forehatch, any water
drip simply falls to the v-berth cabin sole......I have never seen
enough to drain to the bilge. The unit itself simply pulls out to be
removed and there is a 'full cap' that fills the hole in the hatch
should you want the hole covered for any reason, say blue water sailing
with water coming in over the foredeck.
The one unit moves the air quite adequately in our climate......it came
with the boat and if and when it 'dies', I will replace it with another
Nicro.

All,
I second Jim Watts’ recommendation of a Day/Night Solar Vent. Though I
haven’t used them myself on the Enterprise, I’ve heard of others
having great results with them.
The one caveat I’ve heard, in order to really get the benefit, is that
you should install two; one towards the front of the boat pulling air
in and another towords the back blowing air out. This will create an
air flow that will keep the boat fresh.
I’m going to do it one of these days, though I’m not sure if I can
bring myself to drill holes in the deck.
All the best,
Edd
