Dan, you can also install a day/night solar vent, which keeps the inside of
the boat much dryer because of constant airflow. They come with a sleeve
inside the boat that you can slide up to close off the vent entirely. I
have never had water coming through my open solar vent even with high winds
and heavy rain.
