OK...so I get a new Android phone. My geek friend buddy adds a anchor dragging app called "Drag Queen".
Funny name, I thought, and forgot about it. Need to have the new phone tweaked and the kid at the phone store is going through the apps to determine if one of them is affecting performance. After a bit the kid looks up at me and says "Drag Queen...?" "Drag Queen?...Oh!!! no...no...no...its not what you think..." etc, etc. David F. From: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Bill, There is an IOS app, Boat Monitor that does this. It will also send email or SMS alerts (assuming you have one device on board / one with you ashore). I used it a couple of years ago when we were eating ashore and expecting a major wind shift in the anchorage. It helped me relax and enjoy my lunch. The anchor alarm sets up a radius from a point and sounds when you go outside it. Pretty sure most of them have that feature. We're dragging! I've often wished for an anchor alarm app for my smart phone or GPS chartplotter that would work like the range alarm on my RADAR where you set a ring of a particular range, rather than just a directional distance, and if you moved outside of that circle, the alarm would sound. Seems to me that GPS makers have missed the boat on what would be a really great feature to use as a sales pitch. First time I set my anchor alarm, I allowed for 10 feet of drag. During the night there was a slight wind change, no drag but Finesse did swing. LIke you it got me up in a hurry. How stupid I felt not thinking about something so simple as a possible wind change, duh. Again, enjoyed you humor and thanks for posting.
