Check your insurance policy. Mine specifically states no unattended heaters between Dec 1 and April 30. They are OK to have one while you are aboard
I use ceramic heater. On our J27 would fire up three of those on boxing day and watch the World Junior Hockey championship on board on my digital cable. I will miss those days.
