Nuts are 6 sided while the winch handle is square or 8 sided, I think. The
plate at the bottom is square. I just use my winch handles. Why carry something
special when the caps were intended for something convenient?

Another method: Wax the cap and use it as a mold to fashion a key using epoxy.
Don't lose the key.

Can you make one from a T-bolt and some large nuts? Double nut it to secure the
nuts.

See: http://www.mcmaster.com/#t-handle-bolts/=u7etmv

Anyone,
All my tank fills (Diesel, Waters, Waste) require a winch handle to open
close. Had a small plastic Barient key that was very handy to use. It is
MIA. Any source for a replacement? Winch handles work fine but the little
plastic key fits in the pocket better....
