I have never had any significant leakage that runs down my mast in the 28 years that I have owned my boat. Occasionally, I have some small leaks in a heavy downpour. When you think about it, the opening for halyard exits are downward and not much rain water can get in at that point. I would think that if you can actually hear a stream of water running down the inside of your mast, there must be a major (and unusual) hole somewhere on your mast. I doubt that you could hear a stream of water coming from the normal small sources of leakage on your mast, unless you have many more holes than a normal boat--Do you have mast steps?
