I haven't experienced that, but maybe what I call vinyl is actually Naugahyade. You can't find Naugahyde any more, because the Nauga's were hunted to near extinction. Then a bunch of college kids started this 'Save the Nauga' campaign, but it was too late. (That's an old joke, but still makes me giggle.)
