Mine isn't 'jumpy' but I have noticed significant inaccuracies based on the voltage level of my house bank. I can only assume that the level of the house bank affects the overall DC ground potential on the boat. I think the sender measures ohms, and the gauge reports the difference in resistance between two points. Dunno, I just live with it.

BTW, the gauge is wired to the start bank, as is everything on the panel, as it should be. They're electrically separate, obviously, except for ground which is common to everything.

Alera's isn't jumpy, it is just off by like 50%. So ,when it reads empty it still has 1/2 a tank...not necessarily a good thing since I tend to push things. Just gets me to fill more often. I think I'll live with it.
