I have a 20 watt solar panel and a Morningstar controller that have been doing very well for me. When I am on my mooring they keep up with the telemetry radio I use to keep an eye on things. http://www.amazon.com/SunGuard-SG-4-Controller-Regulator-Morningstar/dp/B000O3O0W2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1400529683&sr=8-1&keywords=Morningstar+solar

Being anchored in one spot for 2 weeks for summer sailing class my engine run time was cut by 2/3s with just the one panel. It likely saved at least $10 worth of gas in 2 weeks :) Joe Della Barba Coquina C&C 35 MK I From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of via CnC-List Sent: Monday, May 19, 2014 3:45 PM To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Subject: Stus-List Solar power Thanks to the list, I decided to stay with 2 AGM batteries (both Group 31) and use one for starting. The complications of a dedicated 'starting/flooded' battery were more trouble than necessary for me and how I use the boat. Further, since my Zantrex Plus 40 charger wants all the batteries to be the same, this was a no-brainer. However, as I will not charge the batteries with shore power when I am not on board, I would like a very SIMPLE solution to keeping these batteries topped off properly via a solar panel(s), that can be easily disconnected and stored below when I am on the boat. I am thinking of something like one or two flexible, light weight solar panels, probably with some sort of controllers(s), to (probably) hook directly to the batteries while at the dock via some sort of simple electrical/mechanical disconnect. Suggestions on size/power output/hook-up/etc. from the list would be very helpful. Charlie Nelson Water Phantom C&C 36 XL/kcb cenel...@aol.com<mailto:cenel...@aol.com>
