I recently repaired a sender by reattaching the end of the wire resistance winding to the terminal post. Not a hard job that you might want to try before investing in a new sender. I have a picture I can send you if you need one. Calibration is accomplished by bending the pickup arm assembly. They are a pretty blunt instrument.
