Batterys and boxes. 31's fit into the old boxes when I removed the 27s. The boxes were circa 1989. White with red covers. The first West Marine AGM 27 went bad after 9 years. The second lasted 12, but we don't strain 'em much. (shorthand for don't overnight on the boat very often.) Replaced each with AGM 31s from Sears, more amp hours and they fit and they had em on sale. The batteries live year round on the boat and get charged via the engine alternator and occasionally conditioned by a little charger installed for that purpose. I plug in the charger once a month thru the winter, while at the boat and maybe for a few hours the night before a cruise. Really seems to help.
I setup the boat to be on a mooring, so added a half dozen battery powered LED puck style lights that get used quite a lot. I put something similar in the ice box and the batteries seem to last a whole season. Will 31s fit in same box as 27s? Thanks. Need to replace house this year.
