Rich, I think you're probably right that I'm under-pitched. I still don't have all the facts I apparently need but here are some of them:
My Westerbeke 27 puts out 30 hp at 3000 rpm (which is not the max rpm, but maybe 80 percent max.) The reduction ratio is 1.8. The prop, I believe, is a fixed three-blade 16X10.
So to get a better performance under power, I'm guessing that I need to either increase the pitch on this prop. But then, of course, that's investing more in a prop that probably should be replaced with a prop that's less drag under sail.
As for the boat, it's hull# 132. And it's a beauty that's been pampered and updated and has a nice blue Awlgrip hull. I'll be keeping it in Olympia, Washington at the bottom of Puget Sound. I'm looking forward to hitting that C&C rendezvous in the Canadian islands this August.
