Well said Dennis!

We all make choices - accept responsibility for the choices you made and make sure the new decisions you are making move you in the direction you want to go.

I had the benefit of a major mid-life disruption (divorce) that shook things up, allowed me to see that the path that life was taking was not congruent with my personal goals.
Post divorce I bought a house worth 1/3 of the pre-divorce home, same car (now almost 13 yrs old) - but now I have a boat, money being put away for retirement and I'm a whole lot happier!

I used to teach snow skiing here in Louisiana (Yeah, I know, how does one do that?  Answer, a ski deck).

Anyway, I had several adult students say "if it wasn't for the kids, we'd move to Aspen".  You're laying this off on the kids?  They don't allow kids in Aspen?  OK, children, where would YOU rather grow up, South Louisiana or Aspen, Colorado.  DUH!

What they were really saying was "I don't want to give up my 6 figure job, work as a waiter, live in a trailer or small rental in order to live in Aspen".

As I've said before, if you want the new Lexus, the big house, the country club membership, etc., keep working.  If you're OK with driving a decade+ old car, living in a used single wide trailer, and drinking tap water instead of Pellegrino, you could have retired years ago!  (No, I don't live in a trailer.  That was my college years.)
