*"As far as water temp goes, there is a thermister in the sensor that
changes resistance in response to temperature change, but it would probably
only show a very few ohms of resistance and might look like normal
continuity unless you have a very sensitive meter."*

I thought the temp was part of the depth transducer not the paddle / speed?
I will have to re -read this manual.

"If your wind instrument is not hooked up to a GPS to get Speed Over Ground
and heading information, then it uses the speed input from the speed log
and the apparent wind information from the masthead sensor to calculate the
true wind and the VMG information. There is an inherent error here in that
SOG and speed through the water are different due to the impacts of
current, but without boat speed information, it isn’t possible to know true
wind unless you are standing still"

Now you have opened more cans of worms? Like My wind gauge has been working
fine. "Well" I thought it was. It shows 2 different wind speeds App and
True. I just guessed they were right. I know they are close. I did not
question that it needed the speed input from the paddle to calculate true
wind. Wow I have a lot to learn. This stuff is getting real complicated. I
should start over? I was going to use the existing hole for the speed
paddle to mount the new thru-hull transducer for the Echo50s Garmin. Now I
may need to keep that hole or my wind-gauge will not work for true wind?
Maybe i should just buy the in-hull transducer?
I may be in over my head. copy and past this link to see the units.

Thanks again.
