Yesterday, January 1st, we took an Alberta transplant couple on a wee cruise and toast the points of the compass. This is an unusual Alberta couple in that they are not overly bothered by the rain... "just dress for it eh".
We circumnavigated the Protection - Newcastle group and offered toasts to 8 cardinal points of the compass along the way. The warm beverage is boat coffee (rum & hot chocolate).
Coming home in the narrow channel near Stones Marina the exhaust mixer elbow/riser separated from the manifold. Lotsa of noise, smoke and warm water spraying below. The repair consisted of three types of tape (Gorilla, wide PVC electrical and self vulcanizing rigging). That wasn't enough to keep the pieces together so I had to lash the elbow tight to the engine with small stuff to stop exhaust pressure pushing the mixing elbow aft. We were able to idle home to the yacht club... no wind in the channel and a contrary current of course.
A grand day out with a bit of adventure to start the New Year. Cheers, Russ Sweet 35 mk-1
