I think that Jim's initial post was humorous.  The smiley face was my clue.

I seem to recall that my beamy shallow IOR style hull was once dismissed as too dangerous to take off shore, since once it went over it stayed over. The prevailing wisdom then was that the safest boat had a narrow beam, deep V shaped hull and deep keel, with the center of this far below the center of that. (I flunked out of Marine Architecture correspondence school.)

I just stay out of the Broach Motel. (Broaches go in, and they don't come out...)
