Paul,
I have the Steins too. They are excellent optics, but stabilization would be wonderful. Mine are 20 years old and work like new. I have individual covers for the lenses (far end). They work well. The eye piece cover is one piece and seems to work ok, but does tend to get in the way. They are quite heavy, but very well made with excellent optics. The only part that annoys me is the cover for the eyepieces, it's a single cover and just doesn't work very well. I also picked up a floating strap for them from WM but I have yet to be brave enough to test whether it will actually float them or not! Cheers, Paul.
