The only things I can think of are halyard tension, and Cunningham. I suspect that you cannot adjust the outhaul?

I have some unique issues I could use some help and not much experience with tuning anyway. We don;t race. But still like to do things right... So, here goes... Alera (1990 37+/40 wing keel) came equipped with a Schaefer Boom Furler. Not something I would probably have invested in...but we are actually quite pleased to have it, along with the electric mail halyard winch also installed by the PO. Hoisting and reefing are awesome. But when it comes to being able to tune the main, there are several limitations: 1. Alera appears to have never been equipped with an adjustable back stay. Considering some of the issues I have heard related to these pulling out, that may actually be a good thing...but not so much as far as tuning goes. 2. The Boom furling requires a static vang, with a 87 degree angle to the mast, to assure that the full battens roll onto the boom correctly. I guess the only other thing to consider as far as tuning goes may include the proper use of the baby stay, which can impact the shape of the mast. So, if anyone has any idea of ways to make this sort of set up tuned better or better tuned, I'd appreciate it. thx Tom B Tom Buscaglia SV Alera C&C 37+/40 Vashon Island WA (206) 463-9200 www.sv-alera.com <http://www.sv-alera.com/>
