15' seas and 35 to 40 knots wind. There was a Salty Dogs rally to BVI when we left Hampton and we crossed golfstream at the same time. Due to weather some of their boats got into trouble and called coast guard. Few activated EPIRBs (I have included the CG news release below). It was really unsettling to hear their calls on the radio especially at night. I have a much better appreciation for CG and what they do after this trip. They were so professional and did everything they could to help. I was listening to one boat that had lost their rig. They couldn't respond to CG rescue helicopter repeated radio calls. CG stayed around for so long and tried so many different ways to communicate with their boat. They ended up responding using their lights! A close by Navy War ship was helping too.
