I +1 the GoPro. I don’t use it on the boat, but between my son and myself we recorded probably 50+ h of skiing videos. The latest HD editions have great resolution and very good contrast (a problem with earlier versions of many cameras).
I would recommend large capacity Lithium battery as an add-on. A gimballed-only mount may not be enough (you would need quite a bit of dampening). A friend of mine who races a lot built himself a gyro-based mount that actively positions the camera on a level plane. Granted, he is an electronics engineer, but he claims that it wasn’t that difficult (and certainly much less that $500 someone mentioned). Marek
