Reread the middle ling of the three sent by Rich. ACCO originally used G40, but it is now a universal designator. G40 (AKA G4 or high test) is a short link chain to ISO standards used for boat anchor chains. G43 is a longer link chain of the same strength used for DOT load straps in trucking. Not interchangeable if you will use them for a windlass.
I forget the original question, now, but I think it had to do with buying an anchor chain. If it is to be used with a windlass, be very careful about getting the chain that works with the windlass. Mine uses 1/4" G4. I bought a couple of 65ft lengths for the two anchors on the bow. I found a great deal on 7mm G4, but then found out the links were 35 thousandths longer than the links of 1/4" G4 (called 6mm chain in Europe)and the 7mm chain would not work in my windlass. I had a friend whose Benneteau windlass was set up for 7mm BBB chain, not 5/16ths. -----Original Message----- From: CnC-List [mailto:cnc-list-boun...@cnc-list.com] On Behalf Of j...@svpaws.net Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 7:08 AM To: cnc-list@cnc-list.com Subject: Re: Stus-List Chain help Thanks Rich - that answered it. Looks like G40 was used only by Acco to designate a small link G43 chain.
