Sailing Anarchy's sailing forum has a thread going on a closely related topic.
Look for "Asymmetrics on standard poles..." or something similar. This thread
seemed to have an unusual amount of useful info for a SA topic.

Part way through the thread there are some pictures of articulating sprits and
some descriptions of how to gybe a asymmetric on a non-planing boat. There are
several comments on what type of gear/attachment issues popped up when an
asymmetrical is flown by a boat designed for the old school style of flying
sails.

Also, several good discussions on where the asymmetric vs. symmetrical payoff
is.

Subject: Stus-List mounting sprit on the deck

I'm exploring the idea of mounting a sprit on my foredeck for flying an asym.
Anyone been down that road? One major concern I have is making sure the deck
is strong enough for the load.
