While not addressing DavidĀ¹s question, this might be of interest. This is a warning to anyone who stores the mast on racks over the winter. Last spring while preparing the mast, I noticed fluff at the halyard exit. Upon further examination, I found that the rope tails on both my main and genoa halyards had been carefully deconstructed to make nests for mice.
Many boat $$$$s and hours of frustration later I vowed to plug up the end of the mast this year. Yeah, I know, a rookie mistake--but I just thought a little reminder might be useful. Ken Rodmell C&C 35 II Toronto
