I'd say go to a laundry mat and use one of the big commercial washers.  I'm 
sure that is what the canvas guys do...

I bring my canvass in for storage, inspection, service and repair every year... 
 Last year they had to add some chafing protection to the head sail.  I think 
it cost me like $250 for dodger, bimini, connector piece and mainsail cover.  
It included the repair work and cleaning and treating the canvass and windows.
