KelseyA friend of mine who is a licensed captain in the U.S. uses a Campbell
prop and swears by it. Says he gained a knot of speed. A similar design in a
feathering prop is a new company in New Zealand called Kiwi Props. A friend
bought one and raves about it. I wrote to Campbell last year and here is
their recomendation. Jerry - C&C27-5

Thank you for your email and interest in the Campbell Sailer Propeller. In
order to provide you with an accurate recommendation we would need to confirm
your transmission details. Specifically the transmission make, model and
reduction ratio. Our assumption is that you have the Kanzaki KM2P which comes
standard with the 1GM10. This transmission however can come with 2.21:1,
2.62:1 or 3.22:1 reduction gearing. We would also need to confirm your shaft
size and rotation at the propeller shaft. Rotation should be clockwise or Right
Hand with this setup. Based on the 2.21:1 transmission we would recommend a
CS3RH12x5. This is a Campbell Sailer, three blade, Right Hand rotation, 12"
diameter, 5" pitch. Based on the 2.62:1 transmission we would recommend a
CS3RH12x7. This is a Campbell Sailer, three blade, Right Hand rotation, 12"
diameter, 7" pitch. Based on the 3.22:1 transmission we would recommend a
CS3RH13x8. This is a Campbell Sailer, three blade, Right Hand rotation, 13"
diameter, 8" pitch. These sizes are recommended to give you good cruising rpm
and still have reserve for head wind and seas. These recommendations have been
successful on other similar installations. A 3 blade Campbell will provide more
thrust, improved reverse control and equal sailing performance when compared to
a standard two blade prop. The cost of the 12 inch Campbell Sailer is
USD$515.00 plus a shipping and handling fee of $42.00. The cost of the 13 inch
Campbell Sailer is USD$545.00 plus a shipping and handling fee of $42.00. It
would take us 8-10 days to make this propeller and approximately 5-6 days for
delivery. We accept checks by mail, or credit cards by mail, fax, or phone. We
would be pleased to discuss this recommendation with you, simply drop us a note
and we will call. Our office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time. Tel:

Subject: Stus-List Prop recommendation

I'm thinking of replacing my prop. It was a temporary/emergency repair about 5
years ago when half of my folding prop decided it like being in the Murray
canal more than on my boat. My current prop is 16 X 10 I believe (can't
remember exactly). I've been checking on line and the "Campbell Sailor"
appears to have good reviews. My preference is a 3 blade fixede as I will be
doing extensive cruising next year.

Does anyone have any experience with a Campbell sailor prop. I would
especially like to here from other 37 footers.

Thanks
