I replace lifelines for my clients. I've used both of the hand swage tools, the
big handle swagger and the smaller one with the hex bolts. For the former you
use 3 swages; the later 5 to get the strength required.

You can find the big tool on eBay. However, be advised many of them are from
riggers that replace them regularly because the tolerances might be getting
marginal. For the few swages you need to make, a used one may be fine.

Having said all that, I would seriously consider having a professional rigger
machine swage them. By the time you buy the tools, wire and fittings, the price
difference is small. The appearance of hand swage vs machine swage is
noticeable. Machine swage just looks better.

I don't have a machine swager. I've offered that option to several boat owners
lately. About half have chosen to go with the machine swage from a local shop.

Pull all the lifelines and take them to a rigger for a price. You can also
order them from apsltd.com or some other online rigger.
