I have a 12’ to 18’ line adjustable Forespar telescoping whisker pole. It was working perfectly until I loaned it to someone to use in a race. When it was returned, it was bound up and almost impossible to extend and retract. Also, the two end fittings were no longer aligned, like the pole had been subject to twisting.
I have tried lubricating the pole and forced it to the telescoped and retracted positions several times by hooking it onto the trailer hitch of my Jeep and pulling/pushing on the other end of the pole, and it seems to work fairly easily over a portion of the range of travel. But near full extension and fully retracted, the pole is still bound up. Does anyone have experience with one of these poles? I’m particularly interested in recommended maintenance and service instructions. I’d also like to get an exploded view of the inner workings of the pole. I suspect that the binding might be cause by something twisted/bent inside, but I don’t see an obvious way to open the pole up. Any advise would be appreciated. Rick Brass Washington, NC
