I have all of my wires (chart plotter power and antenna, auto pilot fuxgate compass, rudder angle sensor and power, and seaktalk cables) run straight up through the pedestal through a ¾ inch hole through the cockpit sole right in the middle of the pedestal column and out through a hole in the stainless piece which the pedestal compass sits on no problems after 7 years and no leaks either

It sounds as though that is what you have. But Edson sells replacement feet that do have a hole, with two bolts on the side securing the foot to the cockpit floor. Then you can run the wires down the tubes. That worked fine for me. It happened that the position of the guard was right over a transverse support of the floor, so it took 6 inch 1/4-20 threaded stock to go all the way through. Probably could have used lag screws.
