Joel,

That makes sense, yes.  Simrad has a new VHF/AIS receiver as well.  Still 
waiting on the transponder, as you suggest.  I already have a radio I bought 
last year, so I would likely lean toward the standalone units.  At this point 
it is looking like a project for later this season or next year, I need to get 
the instrument system and MFD put in first!
